THE PLAN OF SALVATION
My friend, I want you to know that God has given us clear directions on how to get to Heaven! Since we have never been to Heaven before, we would be wise to obey God’s directions rather than relying on the way that we think seems right.
In fact, Proverbs 14:12 tells us, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Unfortunately, many people have been misguided, and they believe that good works, church membership, or being a good person “seems” to be the right way to Heaven. However, God says that our ways will only produce failure.
In John 14:6, the Bible says, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
FIRST STEP: WE HAVE ALL SINNED
There is only ONE road; there is only ONE way to Heaven, and that is Jesus Christ!
So, how can you have eternal life in Heaven through Jesus Christ?
You must recognize your condition and acknowledge that you are a sinner. The Bible teaches us that, since the creation of Adam and Eve, a sin nature has been present in all people.
Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
While we often look at ourselves as good people, we all fall short of the glory of God; we all sin. Sin is any act (big or small) contrary to God’s laws and commandments, and those sins that you have committed separate you from God.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
SECOND STEP: THERE IS A PRICE FOR SIN
Before Jesus will become your Savior and give you eternal life in Heaven, you must first know and accept that you are a sinner in need of Jesus Christ.
Because God is holy and righteous, He finds us guilty for the sins we have committed. God’s Word clearly reveals that there is a sentence, a price, or a wage that must be paid for that sin.
Romans 6:23(a) “For the wages of sin is death;”
If you fail to trust Christ in this life, if you fail to recognize the wages of sin, you will die without Him and spend eternity separated from God in a literal lake of fire called “hell.”
Revelation 20:14-15 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
Romans 6:23(b) “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Third Step
THIRD STEP: JESUS PAID THE PRICE
The best news that anyone could ever tell you, is that God loves you and Jesus died for you. All our sins were laid on Him; He paid our sin debt in full.
Imagine standing before God, the Righteous Judge, and as He is getting ready to issue your punishment for sin, Jesus stands between you and God and says, “Let him go free; I will pay the wage for his sin!” That is what Jesus Christ did for you!
Your sin has earned you death, the grave, and hell, but Jesus stepped in on your behalf and paid your sin debt for you in full!
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Isaiah 53:4-5 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. (5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Jesus suffered and paid the ultimate price on the cross at Calvary, and by the remission of His blood, He made your salvation possible.
Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
Romans 5:9 “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
To demonstrate to the world that He is the only way to Heaven, Jesus conquered death and the grave; He was raised back to life for your justification!
Romans 4:25 “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
I Corinthians 15:1-4 “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
FOURTH STEP: REPENT AND BELIEVE
Repentance is a discovery of the evil of sin, a mourning that we have committed it, a resolution to forsake it. It is also, in fact, a change of mind of a very deep and practical character, which makes the man love what he once hated (God’s Law), and hate what he once loved (sin).
Acts 3:19(a) “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,”
Mark 1:14-15 “Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, (15) And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Acts 20:21 “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Turn from your sin and trust Christ as your personal Savior to give you a hatred of sin, a loathing of sin, a turning away from sin!
You can believe that you are a sinner and that sin must be paid for; you can believe in your good works; you can even say you believe in Jesus… but if you are not willing to trust God by accepting the Lord Jesus as your personal Saviour, you will die without Christ. In fact Jesus Himself said:
Matthew 7:21-23 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
If you now understand God’s one and only way to Heaven is Jesus, then trust and believe on Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and the Lord of your Life.
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
God Promises in Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
That is a promise directly from God! You can do this by expressing your true belief on Jesus, by calling on Him in prayer.
PLEASE REALIZE: It’s not just mere words or vain repetition that saves you, but only a true BELIEF and FAITH on Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone. Confess that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgive your sins, and turn to Him and Him alone to be your Savior.
A decision to trust and believe on Jesus Christ to be your Saviour is a decision you will never regret!
